Hi, I'm looking for anyone with good information on road conditions in the north side of the Breaks. I'll be doing an elk hunt in there the second half of September, but I am only marginally familiar with the country.

My main question is roads. I believe 191 is the only paved road, right? How many well-gravelled roads are there? For instance, how is the Dry Fork Road? How is the net of roads running north-south through Sun Prairie?

I'll be going in north of the UL Bend, also into the Ironstake Ridge area.

Any info I can get will be much appreciated.

from what I've heard the roads are fine until it rains, then you're not going anywhere til they dryout...

Yeah, from what I've heard many of those roads are simply impassable until they dry. There used to be a fellow with a handle Nemont who lived in that area. I was hoping he would "throw us a bone here".
