Trying to get a general idea when most of the boars will be out in the spring.
Not much of a winter this year in my hunting area in Southern Idaho.
My guess is most of them will be out and about by the end of April.
I have taken several bears in September in the berry patches but never hunted them in the spring. My hunting partner wants to get out and try to take a spring bear this year.
When do you Northwest bear hunters start getting out and glassing for bears in the spring?

I will be glassing south facing avelanch chutes as soon as the snow melts in them and grass starts growing. The grass in these chutes are about the only food early in the high country and they like to sleep in these warm areas in the afternoon.
Right now here in S/W MT we still have about 2 feet of snow and melting fast. Our season dosnt start till mid April, but Ill still be glassing if they are up there.
Good luck

I had a patient in the office today, who said she saw 2 bears just West of Colville WA this morning. Last year, a 560 pounder was taken near her property -- feet were 9" long and the fat was 7" to 9" thick along it' s back.[:-]
