Ca. is a big state, what area are you stationed? I grew up in the Northern part of the state but do not know much about the Southern end.

I'm in southern Ca, if you're stationed near me I can help get you started but there's a lot of hunters and very little productive public hunting land, I lived and hunted in Arkansas and theres no comparison,

you have got to get me on some turkeys..thats my favorite game to hunt..very challenging..the only thing is..here you have to hunt for them with a bow..in arkansas during the spring season..u get to use a shotgun..but im sure i can manage

RE: help, im new to california

you can use a shotgun on them in the spring and fall out here, unless if the land doesnt allow firearms. And dont expect our turkeys to be that smart, they are quite stupid i assure you lol

Cali has some great hunting. Really look at the ducks and geese, they fly in huge numbers there. Quail is also good and up north, deer is better than you think (look at the X zones). Turkey is strong and as long as you put in work, you should be good to go.

RE: help, im new to california

The X-zones are all i put in for, both of my parents and me have maxed out our preferance points, so any year now we should be drawn, ducks are what i mainly go for i just hat the cost for them, and then turkey is just fun, but it is rare that i dont get my bird, or at least a shot at jakes

I live in Elk Grove, Ca. If you are in Fairfield you are less than 30 minutes from the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area which offers very good waterfowl hunting. For turkeys you might want to try the Spencville Wild Life Area which is right next to Beale AFB.

dude, look up Fort Hunter Liggett. I"m stationed in Monterey (originally from TX). you oughta be able to get a yearly pass there (fort hunter liggett) for pretty cheap.
