COLO DOW HABITAT STAMP RIPOFF
#1
Here's letter I wrote to DOWand COAssemblyman Buffie McFadyen:
You gottado something about the DOW extorting money outof us hunters for EVERY license we buy and they charge us 5.00 for that Habitat Ripoff Stamp. The dealis supposed to be "one stamp per year per person" and every darn time we order a tag online we have to buy a stamp even if we have one.
Heres a short note I just sent to the DOW as they are holding my wife's big game tag hostage toa Habitiat Ripoff Stamp that she already bought 6 months ago:
"I see youre holding my big license hostage AGAIN for lack of a Habitat Ripoff Stamp. Well if you check my fishing license you'll see I bought a Habitat Ripoff Stamp 6 months ago. Or did you want us both to buy 4 or 5 stamps like we did last year and the year before because our tags were held hostage to the Habitat Ripoff Stamp program. Every year its the same thing eith you people and your computers. And it all costs us hunters more and more and more money to fix your screw ups. Send the license. And Ill forward a copy of this message to Buffy McFayden. This Habitat Stamp Ripoff has got to STOP"
Us resdent taxpaying hunters need your help.

I think there is a little confusion here. You have to buy a stamp on your 1st 2 licenses. ie.---I got one on my fishing & then another on my spring turkey tag. I applied for elk tags & received thru the mail with no problems at all. Never had a problem of the" DOW--holding hostage."
I think some of the confusion is it's a $10 stamp but you only have to buy a 1/2 on your 1st 2 licenses. $5 per half. CB

I'm confused too, but I'm a non-res.
What I hate is buying a license/tag, then having to buy a stamp, and then a license/permit.
I think it should all just be included per permit, 1 piece of paper that has it all, tag, license, stamp etc....
I'm sure tons of guys go hunting and forget to get their stamp, or license, then every state is diferent too. Some states tags are permits, or licenses.

Slowly but surely the CDOW is bleeding hunters and fishermen to death. Instead of promoting new programs for youths hunter and introducing kids to fishing they have been content to take money from the remaining few of us. Across the state hunter numbers are declining and so are fishing numbers. Effectively they are working themselves out of jobs. The "habitat stamp",the application fees, the search and rescue fees are all tagged on to the license trying to get the last remaining disposable income dollars they can.

With the cost of everything else involved with going hunting a $5 surcharge for each license is irrelevant. It is less the 2 gallons of gas.
Hunters are the cheapest bunch of whiners I know.

Well I was wrong about the one stamp thing. Ya need two @ 5.00 each. But I am glad I emailed my assemblyman anyway. This habitat stamp thing is a bunch of crapola. If the DOW needs 10.00 then just add it on my tag. They get so much money from our Colorado Lottery thru gocolorado that I'd rather buy 10 bucks worth of ColoLottery tickets. Hell maybe then I could retire(early).

Don't ge me started on the DOW Habitat TAX! It pizzes me off to no end. That everyone who hunts, hikes, bikes, etc.on state land is SUPPOSE to have one. But they don't enforce it on State wildlife areas to the "NON hunters". Yet they hold our tags hostage until "we" buy one. Show me WHERE they have improved habitat? How about doing it for the betterment of ALL hunting. I personally have never stepped foot on an SWA.
