would like to find a decent place to hunt blacktail deer. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Your absolute Best bet will be Northern California! Followed closely by southern to mid Oregon. I also seen some nice bucks taken in South West Washingon State. By far the hardest deer I have hunted to date! Very rewarding though!

yep norther CA or north eastern CA are probably best for size etc.......for most deer taken would be A zone which runs from souther CA to central CA......shoot me a PM with any specific questions and i can point you in the right direction..

also...they are not like any whitetail and are much harder to hunt, IMO....which makes them a great challenge to hunt

I live in grants pass Oregon and there arequiet a few of them around here but they are really hard to hunt in the thick brush so anywhere that doesn't have any brush would be pretty easy if you are doing it with a rifle.

sure if you get up into these clear cuts where they have cleared all the trees out the you usally get out really early in the morning and take a spotting scope and find the buck you wan't and see what happens!

are you bowhunting???

yeah they are a little harder than whitetails but you could do it with a rifle! then if you bow hunt you can shoot the deer when they still have there velvit on for the first 8 days of the season. so if you go rifle hunting you should have a buck down!

do you have any suggestions about good public land. I envy all of you western hunters. as far as animals go you all have a wider variety.
