Well, I was not impressed. It was sunny and upper 70s until we hit Aberdeen. Then came the fog, cold air, and on-shore flow. Not what I had in mind. We set up camp, spent the night, broke camp, and moved back inland to Montesano. We spent the afternoon and night on Saturday at Lake Sylvia SP. Me and the oldest 2 kids got hooks wet for a little while, but no bites. At 6 and 3, they haven't gotten the patience thing down yet(or the quiet thing). It sure was good to get away, sleep under the night sky, and smell that campfire. I don't do it nearly enough.

I couldn't believe it. My wife said we should plan another camping trip... Not a primitive camp though... but just the fact that she is starting to enjoy herself out there is a pin prick of light at the end of the tunnel. Hope everyone is doing well.

Slee, I take it this is the first time you have discovered how the WA coast works. My wife and I have camped at Ozette on the beach where sea level goes to about 900 feet above sea level in a 100 to 150 yards. When your the 900 or so feet above sea level it is beautiful sunny hot sweaty from the 3 mile hike in to sea level where you need your sweat shirts warm socks, etc... and you actually can't see the water because of the cloud cover below you. It is quite amazing how fast that happens.
On another note, I think I have discovered a secret source for prime hunting in Washington. I was talking with the Director of Alumni Relations the other day when he told me his folks had a little spread (about 15 acres) in the Blues. I asked if he or his dad hunted which was a negative. But, I could stay at his parents while hunting on the public land in the area, but even better there are alumn throughout the state that he should be able to hook me up with. I will have to do follow up with him and find out what he really will be able to do in the way of introduction, but it was a source that had never occurred to me before. I will let you know what I find out with this, it may lead to nothing, but I know there are a lot of wealthy "old school" grads who ranch and farm in Eastern WA. Should be interesting.

That sounds awesome Puget Sound. Great resource there. My buddy has made some connections through the Masons - got a great turkey hunting place out of it. I even managed to find some nice spots through church. Ya'all take care.

Yeah, it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. I've been fishing at Neah Bay, so you think I would have figured out that it would be similar weather. Oh well, you live and learn. It is kinda like my hunting spots. I keep weeding out the places NOT to go. I've heard Ozette was a beautiful place, so we may have to check that out next time. I'm always looking for a good place to take the wife and kids. Unfortunately, it has to be established campgrounds because the wife likes bathrooms and running water. The kids also need lots of things to see and do(ie. playground, fishing) to keep their interests.
If you get access to some private land, don't forget about your friends. I really miss not having 200+ acres of private land only 45 minutes from home to hunt like I did back in MS. Good luck, and I hope it works out for you.
Robb, no offense, but why would anyone want to live where you do? It is either rainy and windy, or hot and muggy. I'm sure it is a beautiful place, but I think you guys get more rain than we do on the west side.
Hunt hard, live right, and tell your kids you love 'em!
