RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???
gator99 ...Hope your right about the bear this year. We had some hard rain's, and hail up untill last week....am worried that maybe it got some of the berry blossom's. Last year was so dry that the berries did'nt fare well, and did'nt see hardly and bear sign where we generaly go. Crossing my finger's for this season.....or maybe I'll just have to shoot onme out of the garden were I've taken most of mine.........do they consider that baiting..???.....lol......Wayne

RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???
Robb92 I'm glad to hear you're a redneck too.
Gator99, I spent alot of time in area 10 last bowseason. I didn't see anything. I am very disappointed with what I've seen on Ft. Lewis so far, which is nothing until after dark on the drive out. I hear all of these stories of monster blacktails on there, but I haven't even had a shot at a doe. Maybe I'm just hunting the wrong spots, but I've found tons of sign around the marshes in area 10. Maybe I need to give up and cross the road into area 11. Wayne, I don't think it's baiting if it occurs by natural agricultural means. That is the definition back in Mississippi. Who knows how they determine it out here. Better contact the enforcement office to be sure. Or just don't ask, and don't tell. Hunt hard, live right, and tell your kids you love 'em! |
RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???
Hi Wayne - - Wow that buck was close! Did he have a nice rack on him? - - - Yeah, I've gotta get back east. It's looking gray and damp over here on the coast and this Hawaiian needs some sunshine ! :) - - The family has been planning on a little fishing/camping trip this summer (probably to Lake Curlew) We'll make sure to call and stop by to say "Howdy". Good Hunting!, - - Rob

RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???
Hey Wayne, I think of it more as protecting your harvest. The way the bear population is growing out here, I wouldn't be surprised if they open it up year round.. I read an article last year there was an estimated 30,000 bear in the state of Wash. Most living on the West side. and with all these blackberries, I believe it!!
Hey Slee is 10 Johnson's Marsh. I have seen a lot of deer in one area, usually driving out to waterfowl hunt. And it is usually raining. My first time hunting these blacktail was in good weather. We hunted 4 nice days on private property and saw two does the whole time. (and we have three different properties over 800 acreas. Went back second season when it was raining, and saw 25 deer only two bucks but only hunted 6 hrs. I killed my first blacktail that year. These blacktail have so much cover over here, they can get away with coming out at night, when it is safe. But throw in the rain and they have to move out into the open. So opening weekend, I wont hunt unless it is raining or I am going to hunt where there is a lots of pressure. This year, I contemplated going back to archery, but am going to hold off maybe till next year. I want another elk, and now that I found the place and figured out how to hunt them in Wash, I believe I will harvest another this year. Anyway, The rain is back today and I will be in the garage building another cart for my friends bicycle. Take it easy all and talk too you soon. BRian |

RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???
Pointshoot777....Ya know there's some good Tiger Musky in Lake Curlew. Believe they have to be 32 or 36 inche's to keep....but they planted em there about 5-6 year's ago, so most of em ought to be kept in the fish box.. :). Let us know when your going and we might meet ya up there and get a line wet ourselve's.....Diane's been buggin me for a couple of year's now to take her fishin.....guess I'm gonna have to break down and oblige her just so there's no trouble in Paradise....lol

RE: ANYBODY FROM WASHINGTON STILL AROUND???
Hey slee,
Took the dogs out to the Ft and saw two does and a buck on one area and saw three does on another. It is looking good out there this year. I was on my way out duck hunting between the seasons last year when I saw that other buck. He was a 3x4. I am heading down to the elk property this weekend if I don't have to work to do a little looking around. They are doing some more clearcutting down there and it should open up some nice areas. Guy that owns the property where I deer hunt said the cat was in his yard last night. Dog was going crazy at the door, so he turned him loose. It's a wolf/Huskie mix. said the dog tore out the door and chased the cat into the woods. He wants me to come down as soon as the season opens up to call it in. I am looking forward to taking him to the taxidermist. Nascar, went out there again today and he still isn't home. I have his name somewhere, gotta find it so I don't have to drive out there every chance I get. BRian |
