Arizona Elk Hunt
#4
Looks like there are 255 tags for this hunt and the success rate was about 55% last year, which is pretty good for that time of year. I don't know much about the area, but from the information I have a 300 inch bull is very much a possibility. I've been debating applying for elk/deer in AZ, but I just hate "wasting" the $140 for a hunting license that your required tobuy when I'll never use it (I'm from IN). Good luck on your hunt and let us know how it goes.

The only good thing about having to buy a tag is you can still go hunt mule deer is you don't get drawn. The area I was looking at, It would have been an archery mule deer hunt if I didn't get the elk tag. I passed. I have heard that the elk are unbelievable.

I hunted this unit this year-Archery.... I had the best time of my life. We got into bulls every morning and night. There are a lot of 300 bulls in this unit, and the best I saw was a very nice 6x6 340-350 bull. I took a shot at another 6x6, but unforunately too high-over the shoulder..... You have to go out into the flats--around long lake.... Very rough roads around there so if you dont have quads-I'd reccomend getting in there as far as you can to set up camp.
