Hello fellow westerners,
I am embarassed to say that I am 24 years old and have not yet taken a big game animal. I have really only hunted for about a season and half, but really want to get something this year. I live in SW Wash, but am willing to go to other parts of the state. I would really appreciate some advice of where to check out to tag out. I will probably but a deer/elk/bear/turkey tag this year. Please help!!!
Thanks

Dont feel bad about not getting an animal I have been hunting 25+ years with a bow and all I have to show for it is some rabbits and an antelope and some really FUN times. I dont know anything about wash. state but hang in there and you will get your animal.

I use a 7mm rem mag w/ a 3-9 scope, mossy oak camo and a blaze orange vest, cowboy hat, 10-50 binos. The terrain over here is so varied. I have hunted everything from thick forest to high desert. Washington has just about every kind of terrain and climate that you could ever want.

So how often do you go out scouting?? One thing that I like to do is get up on the top of ridges and Glass...Glass and Glass. Im also VERY VERY sneaky and try to make very little movement and noise ...... I let my eyes do the moveing.

SW WA. Been thru Dayton a few times. Seems like there are a lot of critters around there....Might check with the locals....Would think your luck would change after some scouting as was mentioned prior.

Don't feel bad, this state is very low in success rates so You're not alone. Took me 8 years of hunting elk every day of the season to finally get my first spike so just get out there where the critters live and spend all day hunting. Try to talk to anyone you know locally that hunts and try to get them to offer some spots. Or even try knocking on some farmer's doors this summer (don't wait until the week before opener). Many of the farmers have tons of deer eating their crops and would be happy to let you hunt, perhaps in exchange for some work around the farm.
