Default Colorado Mule Deer

This year, I attempting to start building points in various states. And since Colorado is the closest Western State, I'd like to build Deer points in CO. I'm new to this state in regards to the best areas or districts, odds, etc. Or possibly there are some good OTC units in which the draw and points wouldn't be needed. I guess I'm looking for a little guidance from someone who has done it before, or isfamiliar with CO Public Mule deer. My goal is a150 classbuck or better. I don't mind waitingseveral years for a good trophy unit, if that is what it takes. Thanks in advance.

you don't need points to get a 150+ muley, just hunt wyoming. most regions are 100% draw. and you can find 150+ bucks.

Biggest deer are probalby on the Soutern Ute Reservation in unit 75,76, 77. Not sure how you get one of their expensive tags tho. Here's the link for the Colo DOW, you can call them and they'll tell you good mulie units.
I've seen good bucks in every unit that I travel thru west of I25.

I was up hunting in unit 53/63 for first season for elk and came across a bunch of good bucks. I think about 3 out of the 20 that we saw would go over 150"BC. The only problem is that during the first season inColorado you can only hunt elk. The units require about 1-3 preference points dependingon the season. Good luck Jovan

Thanks to great genetics and 100% draw for tags we now have nice Muleys all over the state of Colorado. Most units have bucks that would go 170 or bigger but as manboy says, "Wyoming is the place".

Kshunter,

I took a 150 class buck last year while on an elk hunt. I always get a deer license just in case. You dont need points to draw. Check out the DOW website and you can look at what your chances are to draw without any points. You should also look into the ranching for wildlife program. There you could get to hunt some private ground at no charge.

Unit 63 was where I was at last year. I'll be there again if the tag Gods see fit to give me a tag again. Also will be hunting Cow elk with the Muzzle Loader in 511 and then buck rifle in unit 36. Might also go for a extra doe somewhere if there are left-over tags. Jovan

I thought only residents could hunt on RFW land not nonresidents
