Default Junior Hunters

We just had our junior hunt this weekend. I missed out on it becuse I got invited to a last minute bow/pig hunt. My partner just filled me in on all the details and I feel like I really missed out. We set out brant decoys on the beach. Then it's over to the refuge for ducks and honkers. Finally the day finishes with an aleutian field hunt. We set up all the decoys and the kids leapfrog from one spread to another and it's an absolute blast to see their enthusiasm. I guess one guy brought his ten year old daughter out and she sat on his lap with him pulling the hammer back for her and she took two geese. The whole event is classic, but you have to be careful not to feed the kids too much or they won't want to go home.

Do any of you have a junior program in your area and how is it organized? Ours is held the week after the regular season. They use to have it the week before season, but the late hunt is a lot better format.

Here we have youth hunt the weekend before opening day. I got to go with 80 proof, a buddy of his and his nine year old, and his g'pa to see this kid shoot a limit of ducks with a single shot 20 ga. His g'pa and I both shot video of it. Out of all the hunting I did this year, that was one of the most memorable.
