RE: New duck hunter, what to expect????

The river is about 60-70 yards wide and probably about six feet deep in the deepest part. It could be really cold there this weekend, I hear that's good for duck hunting.

Thanks for the help.

I would try to set up like wolf said sounds like a pretty decent river, i always like to hunt where theres a transition from woods to agriculture or fields, mallards seems to hang out near thise edges on rivers alot.

on a major river you can expect to see any type of puddle ducks, maybe some canvasbacks, and canada's. the biggest rule on huntin a river is be careful ive hunted a big river for 3 years and that river has earned my respect! good places to hunt on a river is backwater that you can get into. unless its real cold and the backwaters froze up. then you wanna try to find some sandbars. big decoy spreads are perfect on a river. so the more decoys the better. hope you kill some ducks man good luck, hope i helped u.
