I don't know if the Thrush band you got was shot or not but they are protected birds and cannot be legally shot anywhere. As to the duck bands congrats. I have 57 bands from geese, ducks, pheasants and grouse. It has taken me almost 60 years to accumulate them.

I think you people are downright silly! I've never understood what was so special about shooting a bird that had a band. OK so that bird was onced touched by another person- big deal. The only enjoyment I get from banded birds is finding out how old they were and where they were banded. I think it's kind of embarrasing when guys wear their bands on their lanyard like some kind of fancy jewlery that they like to brag about. I know of two guys who drove all the way from Minnesota to Ohio just because they heard that there were alot of banded Canada geese in the area. Give me a break!! Hunting ducks and geese is satisfaction enough- I don't need a tiny piece of metal on a birds foot, or a hunk of plactic on it's neck to make it special for me.
