Default Farewell to a So. Illinois Duck Legend.

I am here with deep regrets and sadness to say that today I attended the funeral of Mike "Big Earl" Little of Vienna Il, a So. Illinois duck hunting legend.
He was born in 1943 and went to the huge duck honey hole this past Monday at 2:49pm. Everyone around the Vienna area down to Paducha knew that if he was at home, ducks were not there.
They had a 1st annual "Big Earl" duck hunt this past wednesday AM in his memory at one of his favorite duck hunting pits. His son, grandson and several of his duck hunting buddies attended this hunt. They harvested several ducks and a rare bull sprig for that area as well!!! They also were able to get a picture with his grandson working the dekes and a slight rainbow was seen in the pics afterwards by the minister, who attended this hunt, had not seen when the pic was taken, and had known mike all his life.
All hulls were collected as were the curly feathers of the greenies.
These were taken and put into 5 Drake Migrator gear bags donated by a local waterfowl shop down there as was a call from the Delta Waterfowl club was donated for each of the grand children and great-grandchildren to be passed along in his memory as a traditional hunt is to be planned in his memory as well a passage from the 23rd Psalm.
At the graveside, they had 2 local Champion Duck callers and their father do a farewell to mike with a leaving hen calling sequence. Heart stopping!!!!
So in closing, to "Big Earl", may you always keep the wind and sun on our backs and the birds dropping in for us, we will see you in the big honey hole later on!!!!!!! RIP Mike "Big Earl" Little 1943-2015.
