+1 on the Super Magnum. Nice to have the 3-1/2" chamber just in case if you may decide later to hunt geese or turkey. I even shoot 3-1/2" for ducks on rare ocassion. I have the BPS and Super Nova. Have not taken the nova out of the box, won it at a DU Banquet. Shoot the heck out of the BPS and let clients use it if needed. Can't hurt it.

+1 on 870 Supermag

The one that points best for you.

The Winchester 1300 was a great field gun, and I venture to guess that the Super X holds up the reputation.

+1 on that. I picked up a Super Nova in a shop thinking I would like it because I have an SBE, old M1 Super 90, and a 20ga Nova, but it felt terrible.

Nimrodder - the express has some cast parts while some of these on the wingmaster are machined. It does not make them junk. My 870 Express SuperMag has been in duck blinds, boats, and goose fields. It has been used so hard and for so long that the stock had to be replaced because of all the nicks and dings in it. But this old shotgun just keeps on firing and dropping birds out of the sky.
But to get back to the original post - don't overlook the Browning line of pumps. Very nice.

I have a Winchester 1300 sxp sx3 and love the super x pump as much as the auto. it is smooth.

Try shooting the pump guns you are interested in. I had a friend that hunted Doves with a Mossberg pump and with that gun he was a good shot. He bought a Browning and couldnt hit anything with it, both good quality guns but the Mossberg fit him better.

+1 on try some out.

I agree with Nimrodder on the newer 870 express -- and I own one. I've been a Remington fan, and would have no hesitation buying an older one used, but I do believe quality has suffered lately (I suspect in an effort to hold a price point).

I bought a used Supernova a few years ago, and I love it.
