steel shot

Obviously everyone has their preference, but what is the best steel shot to use for mallard sized Ducks 2' s or 3' s in Kent, Federal, win, or rem?

Thanks

Another 1 for Fasteel!!

#3' s for ducks and 1' s for geese. 3" 1-1/8 oz loads at 1560 fps,, thats sizzling! Going to be trying bb' s on giant locals on sept.2,, ill let you know!:D

I had bought a case of 3" 1 1/8 #3' s made by Federal for herters a year or two ago. The are suppose to be around 1530fps but wasn' t sure if this would be enough for mallards. I was thinking about picking up a few #2' s in the kent fasteel or win supreme, but like the price of kent so was leaning towards them. Who makes Kent?

Thanks

I used to use #4' s, found I was wounding too many birds. Switched to #2' s, much more effective.

Tried steel shot and don' t like them. I shoot Kent tungsten matrix and swear by them. As was said to me by the founder," use mod. choke it gives the best pattern" .

I use Federal 4' s. Always have always will. I usually kill the duck, hardly ever cripple them. Also I can go get a pheasant with those 4' s if one is around.

I swear by kent fasteel #4' s with nothing tighter than modified choke. I think i wond less birds than before. but i' m a big believer in not taking a long shot. The kent #4' s put out a great pattern out to 40 some yards

I would have to say #2. Those have given me the best results

I like PMC' s that' s all I have been shooting since last season and for being so cheap they are very good in the 2 3/4" #2 and that size is very very effective for both ducks and geese and it kills em deader than s^%$. After then I would have to go with Federal' s 2 3/4" 2' s, or BB' s.

I bought a case of Kent' s #2 from Mack' s and I loved them. Did everything i needed them to do. On ducks and geese.

Sixes out of a full choke sixes work good out to forty yards, great pattern density more chances to score a hit in the head the only reliable way for steel to kill instantly. it would take 2.5 oz.of 2s to equal the pattern density of1 oz. of 6s and if you can' t decoy em into forty yards take up pheasant hunting or shoot bismuth
