I was fortunate enough to kill a banded greenhead this past season, in january.....I called in the number on the band and the operators took my info and said I would get a letter or something in the mail in about four weeks.....that was back in January, and I STILL HAVEN' T RECIEVED ANYTHING... what do they send to you??? and any suggestions on how to get it.... I have been waiting on the bird to get back from the taxidermist so I can get the number on the band and just try again I guess, ..........man that sure will be a duck I will never forget, it came in with a susie and I let her go cause you got to shoot DRAKES1ST man it sure was worth it..... and the rest of they day went like crap I didn' t even fire another shot...but it was still awesome.... I killed my first banded duck!!!! well I' m doing to much remenissing better go......

drakes 1st, the letter they will send should have the the following info. there might be more, but this is the basic stuff.
1- they will tell you the date the duck was banded.
2- where the duck was banded.
3- the age of the duck when it was banded,so you should be able to calculate it' s age when it was harvested.
4- if i remember correctly it will also tell you if this bird was part of a management program, banded, and released to the wild or if it was a wild bird that was trapped by a state wildlife agency and banded. ( dont hold me to this one i may be wrong)
hope this helps.
