Greenhead banded 4/11/95 in Freelton, Ontario.....hatched in 1994 or earlier....taken on a blustery 11/21/99 morning that I will remember forever.
I also had the pleasure of watching a young hunter kill his first banded bird last year, which was a hen wood duck. He was thrilled, and I for him.

I have 41 bands all the way from giant Canadas to BW teal. The first band I got was banded 10 years before as an adult and was banded in Maryland. I shot that bird a hen mallard in the far southwest corner of Minnesota. All the rest of my bands have been taken in Sd. I took a BW teal that had been banded 5 days before in Northwest Territory, Canada. That was a lot of fast flying to get here in 5 days. I have been hunting ducks and geese for 56 years.

I have never shot a duck with a band, but have shot numerous geese with bands. Can' t wait to get that first duck with jewelry.

I took my first one this last season it was a mallard drake and I shot it at Tule Lake NWR in Northern California and was banded in Marysville California about 3 1/2 hours south and was too young to fly and was like 3 years old. Didnt even know he had a band till I pulled him out of the waters I coulda died I never thought I would get one and I have only been hunting ducks for 4 years. Oh and it was a special mid season junior hunt and my last junior hunt that I will never forget.

Took my first greenhead with a band last year. Shot him while jumping ducks off a seep ditch near Lamar, CO.

I don' t remember the specifics on the banding (wife threw out my certificate by mistake), but I believe it was banded in Sask. Canada in ' 99, and I recovered it 12/24/02. Pretty neat piece of jewelry. ;)

We went 4 years without a band then got two two weeks apart. Both were banded a couple years before in the same general area of Alberta. A drake mallard was first then my wife Carol got the Suzie.

I have taken 8 geese in Indiana, have yet to take a banded duck, would love to have one. Maybe this year.[:@]

You should be thankful that you can even hit a bird!:D I can' t believe you haven' t gotten that back yet, that was a long time ago. 1st time i have seen you on the boards, So happy late welcome! Rye is on here too, known also as FROMAN. Good luck with Timber. We will have to get the pups together sometime to see how they act. Are you gonna take her out this season?

I have killed 3 banded geese. I have not taken a banded duck yet thpough.
