Michigan's Upper Peninsula Geese [pics]
Well, made it up to my cabin for our annual Labor deer scouting. This year I decided to get into Goose hunting much more than the previous few. After putting up some tree stands and catching a few trout, I headed to the fields in search of some honkers. Four oat fields and three hay fields later, I had found the prize.
My father is the type of guy who believes that no one will allow permission to hunt there land. I, on the other hand, ask everyone and anyone. With 200 birds in the field, I wasn't sure if I would get a yes or no. The landowner was gracious enough to allow us, and I thanked him about 6 times.
This was my dads first field goose hunt. I have my core hunting buddies, and I am not the best at calling, but we made it happen. More importantly, my dad had some geese landing at his feet!
The ole' man
His first goose of the morning
The pile of empties
Our final tally... After we ran out of shells... And STILL had birds landing on us!
