Default Mergansers

Ive been seening aa few on some ponds and wondering how they taste are they as bad as ive heard?

They aren't very good. They are one of the few that don't even taste that great as jerky.

The hooded Merganser drakes look awsome, but they taste and smell like bad fish [:'(]

I was extremely dissapointed when i shot a merganser, worst tasting duck ever! it got boiled and fed to the dog....

I was talking to a buddy of mine in New Foundland a few weeks back about this. He was saying most Newfoundlanders prefer Mergansers because of their fishy taste.

I have had it before. I have no idea how the guy prepared it, but it was delicious.

I use them for dog training. If you can get your dog to do a blind retrieve on a merganser, and the dog comes back with the bird, your force fetch is done.
