ported choke tubes are supposed to help.
You better be handing out ear plugs to everyone else in the blind if you get a ported tube. Loud as all get out. The blast is deflected to the sides of the muzzle. You won't notice it much, but everyone else will.

Just get out there and shoot some more. You'll get used tothe kickin time.

I put on a sims recoil pad a felt a significant difference. I think the recommendation to use lighter loads would be my next step. I think that those two will make a dramatic difference in the felt/actual recoil. Bottom line there is only so much you can do its an 870. Just gotta love em:D
