Default No Canvasback Season This Year

Just wondering if all you guys in other states are faced with the reality of a closed season on cans like us in Maryland? We went from a two bird limit last year to a closed season this year. I am told the numbers were down due to dry conditions up north. That just sucks!

We have just the one season here. It opens Sept 8th, Sept 1st for Sandhill Cranes. There was a rumour about no duck season this year but only heard it from one two unreliable sources. Tried checking with the proper authorities but no one heard anything about the closure.

No Can hunting in LA. this year either, which is no big deal to me. Where I've been hunting since 1995, I have not even seen a Can. I have killed a few on more open water in years past.About 75% of my kills are Mallards with the rest being primarily Teal ,Gadwalls, and Wood Ducks. It's about time they gave us an extra Wood Duck to bag. I've never understood the two Woody limit all these years. They are as thick as flies down here.

I don't do too much wood duck hunting. There are plenty here but the shoot only last twenty minutes and they are done flying. I guess its ok if you can walk up and step in a blind but I would have to do it by boat and just too much for twenty minutes of shooting for me.
