I've shot more ducks with same gun than any other. when i first started duckin' it was all i could afford. i love that gun, it has never failled even in the most severe weather. I have three 870's diffrent finishes and guages. and the 3" chambering is plenty of pop in most applications.

Are you really serious? The Rem 870 IMO is the most reliable shotgun you can take to the duck blind. Over decoys some 2 3/4" #4s (steel) and for passing geese load up with some 3" BBB (steel) or BB Tungsten.
Remember though, steel shoots tighter then lead with the same choke so I'd recommend nothing tighter than a modified (lead) choke out of your shotgun to avoid damage to your barrel.

I use an 870 supermag in black synthetic to duck hunt. Have been using it for years and won't use anything else. You don't have to worry about scratching it up. You can put it through anything. Also, you don't have to worry about it freezing up, like automatics will sometimes doin cold weather. To me the synthetic 870 is the perfect duck hunting gun.
