#1
Remi, my Boykin spaniel is going on his first duck hunt tomorrow morning. Going with 2 other guys and I am not going to take a gun. Just gonna concentrate on him and maybe take some pics. Wish us luck. hopefully I will have some pics for you guys.

No pics ....wife had the camera. but Remi retrieved his first duck this morning. my buddy shot a wood duck and he landed about 50-60 yards out. Remi didn't see him fall cause it was on the other side of the blind but I got him to that side and threw a rock in the direction of the duck. When the ripples started making the duck move in the water remi saw him. I sent him, and he sailed off the floating blind like he had done it a million times. got the duck and brought him right back to daddy. even handed him over with no problem. When he was swimming to the duck my heart was beating faster than it ever has deer hunting. what a feeling. It was my buddy's first wood duck (he is going to mount it) and remi's first retrieve all in one..... I am such a proud papa... can you tell.

Nice work! Man it was foggy this morning in Sussex county.... I don't know how y'all could have found your way to the blind in that soup!
All our swamps are dry in Hanover, Essex, Southampton and Sussex.... hung a few last minute treestands instead.
Oddly, my golden's first retreive was a wood duck on the first day of the early opener last year.... went on to Arkansas and SC and lots of birds in VA. I've got his total at over 100 birds now, he's a retreiving machine. But I'll say this... his first duck was a 20 yard right in front of your face pick up.... and he brought back two blocks before I could get him on the right duck! Thats fantastic! Sounds like he has got some fantastic potential! Congrats on the first bird with the new pup!
