Team 9 - Official Team 9 Thread

Well I guess I'l start the team thread. Early goose started on Sept. 1, but with temps in the high 80's still there hasn't been much action. I've been relying on dove hunting for now. It's supposed to cool down for the weekend so hopefully I'llput a few on the ground.

Been out 5 times in 5 different areas and still posting a goose egg for kills, my son almost got his first goose made him turkey neck and back peddel, not bad for his first shot at a bird, at 10 yrs old.

Yeah me too. This is the first time I've actually been able to post in like a week. Finally got on the board with the first goose on sunday night. A friend and I hunted a flooded sod/soybean field and knocked down 4 but only left the field with 2. [:'(][:@]

Went out to the same place saturday morning and knocked another down. Fun, but still slow compared to how it can get in the peak of the season. Oh well, gives me something to look forward to. Corn just got picked this afternoon, hunted this P.M. and had a few flocks fly over with no lcuk, but again it's back up in the 80's. Maybe tomorrow night...

Why don't we go with what Strait said in an earlier post

"Wack em and stack em boys!"

Why don't we use the first part of that statement?

Team 9: Wack em and Stack em
Steel Rain
Quack Wackers

Well the weekend didn't turn out like I had hoped. Saturday it was about 80 degrees with about a 30 mph wind gust around 40 so it was windy, hot and the birds were not moving. Sunday it was about 60 degrees with littel to no wind and it was a down pour. For both days I only got 3 ducks 2 bluewing and 2 greenwings. It was the worst opener I have ever had.

RE: Team 9 - Official Team 9 Thread

Sorry to hear your weather sucked for the opener. Mine is this weekend the 6th. I will be doing some bow hunting this week and will most likely drop it next week. I have a week off work so I hope to knocka few down.

Good luck guys.

2 more geese this weekend. Duck opened last saturday, and there is a lot of ducks around, but they're all set on going somewhere... They always come from the same place, and go the exact same direction. All of the about 75 yards up and they won't come down for anything.

Both seasons are closed down for a week, but they re-open this saturday. We've had a big temperature drop and a lot of geese moving through the last 2 days, can't wait till saturday. I've been out hammering some doves lately, me and 2 other guys went out the last 2 days, 8on mondayand 21 yesterday. :D

Good shootin DuckHuntin, We had a cold front come through on Thurs. and birds were flying all day. good luck on sat.

Question, I was out yesterday and had a Merganzer sitting in the water off the point where I was hunting, I could not get the bird to fly, chaced him, threw rocks, shot the water next to him, I am assuming he was wounded but did not shoot him. What would you guys have done? Looking back, I think I should have shot him??? I am new to this sport and just want to do it right.

DuckHuntin247 10-12-2007 08:32 PM

RE: Team 9 - Official Team 9 Thread

Sounds like it probably was wounded, or just very, very stupid. Sure it was a merganser? When the coot start to come around here, you can do just about anything and they won't even look your way, butI doubt you mistook a coot for a merganser. If I had enough evidence to make me think it was wounded I probably would have shot it I guess ...Don't know that much about them. Don't think we have many up here, and I've never seen one that I know of.

AR 34 eight point 10-14-2007 08:35 PM

RE: Team 9 - Official Team 9 Thread

Thanks, I think I should have shot it too. If it cant fly, it will freeze in a few months...

Pheasent hunt went real well, my son had a ball. Between Fri. shooting clays and Sat. hunt he went through well over 200 rounds. Said it was the best weekend ever..... priceless.... I am trying to down load a video of his first kill and will try to post it. I will include a pic. too.

Had a pretty good weekend. Went out with a group of guys from work to a ridiculously hot field. Probably 400+ geese using it. The group shot 10 yesterday and 12 this morning. Here's a couple pics.

Took down 2 more ducks the last couple days. Slowly starting to get better with the temperature evening out instead of bouncing back and forth from 55 to 75 ...
