Cool looking bird

Default Cool looking bird

I was watching Waterfowler TV lastnight and they shot a cross between a Pintail and Mallard...that was one cool loooking duck..Anybody else ever seen that episode?

Saw that, I personally saw one better looking drake than that in a Iowa City park that blew my mind, most gorgeous looking thing i have ever seen. It basically had the mallard colors on a pin body with pin markings...

i perspnally shot a blue and greenwinged teal cross , and a mallard woodduck cross

At our local gander mountian they have a mount of a mallard/pintail cross. It's amazing looking. It has a greenish brown flourescent head with a pintail beak, narrows wings like a pintail with the irredescent blue/purple wing patch. And best of all, the long pin tail. I'd love to be the hunter that shot that.

Those are called Mule Ducks, and for my money... they are one of the prettiest ducks in the air! Even though they aren't a legit species.

On my old computer I had a bunch of pictures of hybrids that a bird collector had ammassed over the years.

He had a Redhead/mallard, pintail/woodduck, BWT/Shoveler, Gadwall/Mallard, Golden Eye/Bufflehead, all kinds of wierd stuff.

I have personally shot hybrid black ducks/mallards... not terribly uncommon, heck I think its more uncommon to kill a mature male 100% pure black duck anymore.

I agree.

BTW, I saw the first ducks of the season yesterday. It is still extremely early, but they were flying. about 6 or so black ducks in formation.

I seen that episode, I wonder how common that is. That would probably be a bird for the wall if I shot it.

ive seen it i saw a show that they shot one with a mallards body pintail tail and a redheads head could tell if its a prank or not?
