Field hunting is a passion for me, I usally find field with lots of geese and a couple flocks of ducks. Late season when the birds are getting plumaged ill go scouting for duck fields when their stuffing there faces getting ready to header' down south.

The spinning wing decoys work like a magnet for ducks that come in first. But if you're decoying geese as well, I'd suggest that after the ducks are about done, take the spinners down. Our experience is that for some reason, geese are shy of them. We also only use goose flags to get their attention from a distance, once they turn and start toward us, we flag very little and just call. Let the calling a decoys on the ground bring them in the rest of the way.

it all depends on where you are, i know in canada and the mid-west they shoot alot of ducks out of fields, but you also need to hunt the weather like you would over water. before a big winter storm is always a good time to try to bang some quackers in a field. and also the main factor to having ducks in your field is location and food quanity, if you have alot of waste corn laying in your field, the ducks will find it if they are there, but if they have food and water at the same time, why would they come to a field that could also be your problem, they are content just sitting on the water and dabbiling. but if it gets cold and the river or lake freezes, and you have a good field in a good location it could work. and try fullbody duck deeks like the GHGs or Hardcores, they make a world of differance to just taking the keels off your floaters and just sitting your floaters in the field (which will work in the morning or dusk.
