im with the hermorph theory ..... drake mallards dont have orange bills while in eclipse (like the second pic).... the one i killed looked like the one in the second pic ... the top pic may be a black/mall hybrid ... have killed black/mall hybrids myself but always had a purplish speculum but im sure there are many variants .... no matter .... great birds guys !!! congrats !!!

not as knoweldgeable as yall bout this, but looks like a widgeon head to me and a mallard body. probably isn't but that head reminds me of a widgeon except the bill of course.
