Posession limits?
What does that mean, ive seen where bag limits are 6 for ducks, and 12 in posession, is that like your entire party can only have 12 or something?

RE: Posession limits?
Up here it means each person can only have that many in thier possesion. example in freezer at home, or for a combined evening then next morning hunt. Andy

RE: Posession limits?
You can shoot 6 a day, thats simple.
You may only possess 12, that means you personally have 12 total in your game bag, fridge and or freezer or ice chest. Has nothing to do with group totals,, its personal totals. |
RE: Posession limits?
alright i get it now, but its not like i can shoot THAT many!!, my life total is 4, even though its only my 2nd year.

RE: Posession limits?
Every state I've ever hunted in has possession limit as twice the daily limit (after the second day of hunting). As said, "possession means possession" that you've taken and still have in your possession while hunting, at home in the freezer, etc. If you shot 8 ducks, which for instance MN duck possession limit is this year after the first 2 days, you couldn't shoot any more until you ate some of the others.
Don't think that Game Wardens won't check or call and have another Warden go to you home and check to see if you have a freeze of game birds either if they have reason to believe you have more than you possession limit. In other words, don't give them any reason to believe that you have more than daily or possession limits if spoken to. That goes for fishing too. They are very talented at asking questions about how you've done before when they stop to check licenses, etc. You may say, "we got our limits last weekend." He says, "so you had a big fish fry, duck banquet..." or whatever. If you say no and you have more animals in you possession, he knows he's going to be calling a Warden in your area to come to look in your freezer. And they will. I've not been in that situation. But I've had them quiz me about past success and whether we eat what we got before. |

OK, but I'm not paying for the dna testing of all the chicken and turkey breasts in my freezer.;) Mitch |
RE: Posession limits?
It has nothing to do with what is in your freezer. In your possession, which means whole birds while transporting or in your field possession- these extra birds must be tagged by the person that killed them, they are not your birds but theirs, so thats all the difference is in possession. Birds in the frezer don't even come into the equation

RE: Posession limits?
Sorry fsulaxer, but you are wrong!
A possession limit is a personal possession limit,,, what you may have total in your possession and that includes what you have in your freezer. |
