Anyone use the Kent Faststeel? Just bought a box of it for our upcoming goose season here in NY which opens on Sept 1st. A box of 3 & 1/2 in BB's was only 14.99 at our local Gander MT. At that price and if it works well I'll be buying it for duck loads too, but just wanted to know if anyone has tried it.

Started using it 4 or 5 years ago. All I use now for ducks and geese,, as far as im concerned the best steel shot shells on the market!

I use 3" 1-1/8oz loads at 1560 fps. Tail body beak boom,, dead bird!

I use that for geese and ducks!

3 1/2" BB for geese
3 1/2" 2 shot for ducks

In the early goose season where the geese are a little more "IN YO FACE"i will shoot the 3 1/2" 2 shot at them also.

Kent makes GREAT shells!

i like them, but i found that i could buy federal 3.5" 1 3/8 oz loads at walmart for about 11 bucks a box and so i went with them. they work just as well.

I like the Kent and the Federal steel shot the best. I use the 3.5" BB 1 9/16oz loads at 1300fps for geese in the faststeel.

SwampTHING,

I heard from one of my friends who hunts every weekend until the end of the season that the kent ammo doesn't perform too favorably in the late season when it starts getting cold. Have you found that as well?

What are you seeing as a price point in your area for your load? The best I've been able to find here is $ 150/case +tax. I was about to pick up a couple cases, but am heading to Lake Ontario next week for some salmon fishing and would pick it up there if it was less. Let me know.

Cheers,

i have been using kent shotgun shells for 6 or 7 years. love them especially the 3.5 2oz. #1 matrix. i shot matrix on geese and 3.5 1 9/16 #1 on ducks and geese. two years ago we pattern alot of different types of shells and guns. matrix was far the best pattern and penetration with all types of guns. good luck this season..
