RE: What are some dos and don't of setting up decoys?
Watch the wind. Ducks land into the wind so set your dekes out accordingly. Typically a "U" shaped pattern is used with the curve of the "U" pointing into the wind. This leaves the space in between for the birds to land. Another way is to set your decoys to the upwind side of you. If the wind is blowing left to right, put your decoys on the left, and vice versa. Just make sure you leave room for the ducks to land. If you have a robo duck, place it right in the middle of the landing hole. Any other questions let me know.

Will ducks flair if the bar-code on the bottom of a deke shows?
He-he-he! |

Put the sun in their eyes, not yours. But not usually compatable with the wind. Think about that for a few moments like cross shots. I can really smack them from left to right. Left to right is jsut sort of a weak spot for me but have a buddy that picks up the slack.

about how wide of a U should you spread the decoys out and how far away should you place them from your blind. Thanks!

RE: What are some dos and don't of setting up decoys?
CGH: I usually leave a landing spot like you're talking about but... how can I get them to land in the hole I leave in the U versus at the front/curve of the U? It seems like it's a 50/50 draw when geese commit.

RE: What are some dos and don't of setting up decoys?
The spread of the "U" just depends on how big of an area you are hunting and how many decoys you have. You dont need alot of decoys to use this pattern, just make sure you leave room for the ducks and geese to land.
