Don't bunch up you decoys. Figure out what the average wingspan of one wing of the decoy species you would be using. Example wing on a mallard might be roughly 18 inchs so double that and you'd get a good rule of thumb for spacing.

ALSO-- Geese (Candian) are family oriented. Next time at the park take a look at how they stand with each other. Familys bunch together seperating themselves by 10 feet or so from another family. ALSO feeders do not always stand into the wind. they move around side ways to the wind.Sentery is not always at the front of the pack, when the whole flock is eating someone in the pack has their head up looking thruout the flock (always into the wind though). So 6 to 8 feeders/resters with 1 sentry. Think family when setting the deeks. 6 here 10 here 8 here all a wing step away in the family but 8 to 10 feet from another family. Put 2 off to the side 1 sentry 1 hard feeding. Do the U / V shape to make a landing area. All most the same on the water. Don't need muck if you set them right. Now for ducks, open water or river, hell they are so dumb when it comes to spacing just give them a landing zone in the middle and have some fun. Marsh hunting is alittle different. A spinning dek is best with 5 or 8 at her feet. AND a lot of movement on the water. Try trying a string on one and pull or just get a water shaker. Thats it have fun and enjoy. Setting deks are alittle majic a little vodo and alot of fun.
