Northeast season?
hey guys, i live on long island, new york. just wrapped up the season here and it just seemed that there were less ducks than usual and the ones that were around didnt want to decoy. i wanted to know if any other hunters in the northeast experienced this too, or if i was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. it has been unusually warm here for this time of year so im thinking that negatively affected the season, but i wanted to see what others guys think.

I am Va. also we did start out well, we had some cold weather in early Dec. But as you know Mid Dec. through Jan. it was record hitemps. which messed our hunting up as well. I think the serious cold that they had up north early on pushed alot of Ducks downbut once thay got here they were comfortable and stayed then they figured out where the blinds were from getting shot at then then you could pattern there flights from one sanctuary to the next, they were here but they didn't move alot. All in all one of the worst years I have seen in awhile. Thankfully the Divers are as smart as the Puddle Ducks.

We had the same thing wih the ducks in South Jersey. But the goose hunitng was also difficult. The geese weredecoy and field blind shy---going to grass vs corn;hanging around office buildings ,municipal building vs open fields.
In the goup thatI hunt with our harvest rate for ducks and geese was WAY off--perhaps 30% of 2004-2005
