Default 2 guns to choose from for geese

I am going to go goose hunting this weekend and I need some advice. I have a choice between a rem 1100 with 30" barrel and fixed full choke and a rem 870 w/ 23" bl w/ mod choke. Now I can't use steel in the 1100 but I could use hevishot. The 870 is a super mag so I could use a 3 1/2" shell. I am looking for ideas on what gun you would use from the 2 and why. Thanks

Personally, I would probably tote the 870 with the hevi.

1. I wouldn't be shooting a fixed full choke for geese.
2. A pump might* be more reliable given the weather conditions. (see your avatar!)

Although, a 23" barrel is kind short. Just don't get too close to your partners or you'll be ringin' thier ears all morning.

I am not a full choke fan at all, therefore i would use the 870 with 3.5" premium ammo with an improved cyl, lt. mod or mod choke..

I could be wrong, but hevishot might not be friendly in your 1100 either it doesn't have the properties of lead.

Full choke dude. Learn to smoke em at 50 or just miss em completely. I think shooting full choke forced me to shoot better. I don't even take it out to dove hunt or shootskeet now. Plus you knowthe 870 will never jam on you.

30 inch fixed full - what a dream!

870 is the father of all shotguns...

You can use it for every single hunting situation, and it'll work flawlessy (or the two that I own have anyways.)
