I got my first banded bird yesterday, and it had a 2 bands, one of which was a $100 reward band!! It was really freaking cold out there( had to keep fixin the decoys as they were freezing and turning upside down!) but it was definitely worth the trip.

Basically, it means that a research is being conducted with a higher priority then a Normal Banded bird. It's just an insentive to get you to call in your bands.. That's how the researchers study migration..

Bands are used to study migration patterns and age statistics in waterfowl.

Reward bands are used to study band reporting rates of hunters.
