Default Shot size for Swan

Thinking about picking up one of the 450 remaining Swan tags for here in Nevada for the hunt that is coming up (October 22nd till sometime in January). I have gotten some tips from people who have hunted it before as far as how to hunt them. Question is WHAT to shoot one with? I have a Mossberg 500 12, so I can take to 3" shells, just not sure of the shot size. I am thinking of something in T or BBB should work ok. The target will beWhistling Swans.

Thanks

Lets see, I see North Dakota, Michigan that they are hunting, and Nevada has 452 tags still left over for the hunt that lasts from October 22nd til Jan 6th.

We have a draw here in Va. 600 tags. Normallymy buddies and Iwill have 75% draw success. We have takenquit a few birds, some things that work for us is using decoys we have 6 but 2 will do if you are hunting a feeding area. I also use a snow goose call which you can blow to imitate a swan I have never found a "GOOD" Swan call. The key for us is to get the birds in close they may appear closer than they are because of their size. I have found them to be easy to call in maybe because of the lack of hunting pressure.I have had them shake off T's which normally will brake a wing orcripple them. If you get them in close which may take 3 or 4 wide circles hit with BB's I shot a 17 pounder last year stone dead 1 shot with BB's. Good Luck

They are not the best eating, one buddy does eat them but we have some families around that like them. (Stronger than a Goose)
