RE: Nikon D40X SLR or Cannon EOS Rebel XTi?????
Any suggestions on the best time of year to buy a camera like these? I would think maybe the day after thanksgiving or during those after New Years Sales.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I just bought the XTi w/ a couple of lenses for $699 (70-300) and (28-55). Will be asking Santa next year for the bigger lenses I am sure.Had been shopping around. Looked at both models. Have friends who shoot Cannon's so if I don't have a lens then I can borrow and try before buying. Know a couple of pros that shoot mostly wildlife. They used to shoot Minolta's back in the time before digital They both switched to Cannon but looked at the Nikon D40 as well before they made their most recent purchases.
Got my package from Barclays Photo. Got a pretty good deal too, compared to my local shops.
In my area the Nikon compatable lenses were a little more expensive.

I received a Rebel XT for Christmas from the in-laws. It was purchased the day after Thanksgiving at American Electronics for $599. Ithas the black body and came with a 18-55 lens and a 75-300 lens as well as a HP Photosmart photo printer. It was a good deal and I love the camera. I am just getting into photography but it seems to be just fine for my applications.

I just bought the Nikon D40X Digital SLR, 10.2 got the extra 55X200 lens and a camera case for around $550. Easy to use and takes great pics. Real happy with it so far.

I'm an avid freelance photographer and both options (Nikon and Canon) are good choices. I use Canon gear as most lenses interchange with different bodies.
