I was thinking about buying a camera to take photos of deer from a tree stand. I was wondering what would begood one.

Does look like anyone knows anymore about this than I do, oh well.

How close will the deer be? Is there a lot of brush or trees? What time of day? Perhaps you could give a little more info on the type of area that you will try and get the pics from...

Alot depends on how much you have to spend on a camera. Do you want to buy a camera with a fixed lens or interchangable lenses? Fixed lens cameras are typically cheaper but you sacrifice those extra long shots. If your just getting started and dont have a lot of cash look for a fixed lens camera with 10x optical zoom. Anti shake options help also. Then find the camera you are thinking about at a camera shop or Best Buy, whatever, and get your hands on it. If you have a compact flash cad take some pictures with it then check out the quality at home on your computer. I own A Sony, Minolta and a Nikon. All are great under different conditions. My Nikon is my fav because of the picture quality, but the Sony does better in low light conditions(like takin pics of deer. Here are a couple of examples...

I was going to use it while bow hunting, most pics would be closer than a 100 yds. Ido not think any pics would befurther than this here.

What I am currently using is a Koda Z650 it has a 10 power zoom, and I bought another lense that give up to 20 power zoom. It works ok for me, but with all the different features I keep messing up with it.

Canon Powershot S3 IS, what doyou think about this camera 12X optical zoom an a digital zoom, stabilizer, 6 MPX's.

I bow hunt for whitetails an was wondering if this would be a good camera. Most of my shots would be in the 150 yd or less range with the camera. I would make some ofthem into 8X10 if I got some good pics.Would the 12x zoom be enough, thanks for any help, if you want to look at the camera it is on cabelas site under cameras.

Looks like a good first camera to me good luck with it. Post some pictures so we can see how your doing. Get lots of practice and remember even with good optics your best shots are gonna be when your close to your subjects. I once went to a lecture by an outdoor photographer who used only the best equipment. He said his best shots and advice would be to be the same distance taking pictures as you would be hunting! Looks like you can also get a 1.5 teleconverter for your cam too. this should help with those extra long shots.
