Default What would you charge????

I have an opportunity to go to Idaho to film an Elk hunt for $. If I go I will have to take a week vacation. I get 2 weeks paid the second I’ll take to bow hunt the rut here in Mi..

The problem is that we won’t take a family vacation if I do this. My wife is ok with it if I can make enough $. I will be filming for a good friend of mine and want to be fair on what to charge him. He said he will cover all expenses, food, plane tickets est.….

Any ideas on what I should charge?

The Price on a camera person is a wide range, mainly because there are so many out there. a real good outdoor cameraperson with there own equipment can make in excess of 500 a day, with out in excess of 300 a day. a average 375 and 150-200. but lots only get paid 100 to 150 with or with out equipment. (these are professional not amatures) a fair price with out knowing you and if you are using lets say a gl2 and it is your equipment. i think 125 to 150 a day. if you are useing a lesser camera or newer to filming maybe less or if you are using a better camera and more expert more then 150. this is just my opinon. and is no way to be a insult to you or your skills or worth just trying to help.

I've been a professional camera operator for about 16 years now and also own alot of my own equipment. My 'Average' day rate is 350.00 a day based on an 'average' 10 hour day and they provide the equipment. If I have to travel they cover all expenses, per diem, hotel, etc. If I use my own equipment they pay a daily rental on it plus provide insurance for the wear and tear and possible damage or breakage.
If I shoot for friends or for a discounted rate I won't go less than 200.00 per day.
