Default Peasant pheasant

I live in indiana and there are some great put and take places to hunt. I would really like to get to hunt some wild birds though. Is there any where in Iowa or southern Minnesota that I have a shot at going to and getting permission to hunt with a decent population? Or do I need to make a whole week out of it and head to the Dakotas?

Take a week and go to the Dakotas or Nebraska and you won't regret it.

The WMA's of KS offers great wild bird hunts. I usually pick an area and find decent numbers of both Pheasant and Quail.

I like the week before Christmas....

Yep, I should have also mentioned Kansas, as I've done what you said late in the year with good success on both birds and very few people on them then. I have been up in the north-central area for the most part around and out from that one big reservoir that the name escapes me right now.

Thanks for advice. I'll look into those routes. Just trying to get my feet wet on going out of state to hunt. Still not sure how far I can go, if I drive ten hours my back will be so sore I won't be able to hunt for a day. Haha

Geez, where I go out in ND it's a full 2 day drive each way, but well worth it! I love hunting cackle birds!!!
