I was curious if anyone has been hunting Eurasian collared doves? Do you go out and hunt for them specifically or just shoot them while hunting mourning doves?
They have been rapidly expanding their range throughout North America over the last 10 years. They showed up in my part of Eastern Oregon about 5 years ago but were first only found in the city. Now they are all over the place and a significant percentage of my bad during the normal dove season.
They have become so abundant that I started going out hunting specifically for them and have been having a blast.
I wrote a blog about hunting for them that also includes a summary of all U.S. state hunting regulations - check it out: http://www.growinghunters.com/eurasi...s-opportunity/

Thanks for the story and the link.
I haven't hunted them yet, but I welcome the opportunity. I wish all states would manage them as game birds instead of wanting them exterminated.
I especially like their call. They sound very similar to the doves in Africa, and every time I hear one it brings back fond memories.
