For upland I prefer my Benelli Montefeltro 1st & foremost. (secondly is a tie between my Belgian A-5 16g & a Citori I cant count how many doves it's killed)

But pumpwise, for upland I'd go with my BPS. I have several pumps, Rem 870SM, Mossberg 835UM, Win 1300FW & an ancient Stevens 520 that my grandad got second hand when he was a kid during the Great Depression! The BPS is just an AWESOME piece of machinery, it makes other pumps feel like buckets of bolts.

My favorite nonpump is my savage model 220A 28ga.

Ithaca model 37, Remington 870 (wingmaster over the express) and the Browning BPS. All great pumps. My 2 cents.

I have grown up with the 870. Had a few of them and dont know what id do with out one
in my arsenal for any type of bird hunting. especially upland game bird..

1st choice 870 Wingmaster (just a lot smoother pump than the Express) Yes I have both.
2nd choice 870 Express
3rd choice Ithaca model 37

I have an 870 SM, and I can tell you that though it'll drop a bird in a heartbeat, it's way too heavy to be lugging it around in the ready position all day long. (my arms are still beat from last Saturday!). I'm seriously considering a crack-barrel for the all-day upland bird hunts like ruffed grouse, either a 20 or a 12, something around 6 1/2 lbs.

You gatta go with a 12 ga. Nova! Thats if you guy who likes to carry a little heavier gun! haha. I've loved this gun from day one, it gets the job done.

Where are the 1300 shooters?

The Winchester 1300 is a great field fun. Fast and smooth action. I shot one w/ a 28" barrel for several years at clay targets all sorts of feathered stuff.

Ditto. I got mine on my 16th birthday and I'm 44 now. It's hunted everything from squirrels to waterfowl to upland birds. Took it and my Supermag to Kansas this November to hunt pheasants and never even loaded the Supermag. Great guns.
