I use shot size 8 for dove. I carry 2 chokes with me so i can change out if the birds are coming in just out of range or if the wind is blowing realy hard I will use a full choke. But if no i just use an improved cylinder. Just dont shoot one close up with the full choke in

7 1/2 or 8's mod choke, or full if they are flying high.

I usually use #8 and a skeet choke. Between a mojo dove set 30 yards out, and a dove call, I can usually get them in close. The skeet choke opens up the pattern so it's easier to hit them. Now, if they are far off, I either concentrate on calling them in or just leave them be. They'll be back.
