I’m going this weekend for my first pheasant hunt too. I’ve hunted quail before but never pheasant. I’m excited … should be fun. Good luck to you.

Relax and enjoy it. Don't try to pop 'em too fast.....you've got a little more time with ringnecks versus grouse and chukars.

Have fun and good luck.

I have been going to South Dakota for 5 years now and also run a private pheasant hunting preserve. My advice is to you is : 1) be sure not take unsafe shots- obviously don't swing toward whoever is hunting with you. Know your safe shooting areaand don't take any low shots over the dogs. I would let the guide know that you are a first time pheasant hunter, if you haven't already, he should point out all safety issues. 2) Listen to your guide with the dogs-often I alert my clients when my dogs are birdy and about to flush a bird. 3) I use Improved cyl. or light modified for game farm hunting.

4) Have fun and remember....IT IS ADDICTIVE !!!!!

Relax has been said but I want to elaborate. Before you head out the guide will probably talk about the dog safety and whatnot. It might make you nervous but when you get out there you will see it will be clear whether or not it is a safe shot. Enjoy
