Default Dove Limit Change in SW Oklahoma

If you are hunting in Southwest Oklahoma make sure you find out what the limit is. To my surprise my farm went from a 15 bird limit to a 12 bird limit this season.

On the flip side, they have also opened up a 1 week dove season at the end of December. I am guessing we are the test bed for this practice and if successfull this might be implemented throughout the state.

Im glad that they modified the season. I only wish it affected more of Oklahoma. I cant wait till september 1st!!!!

Have you seen shotgun shells on sale anywhere yet? Academy last year had them for $30.00 a case (250 rounds). I hope that they do that again.

What was the reasoning for the change in regs? I never see a shortage of birds down that way?

No sales yet, but Academy should be having their sale shortly!

what was the explanation for doing so? I'm not too bummed about it, but am a little curious.

From what I remember reading it wasnt that they wanted to cut back the number of dove. It was that they wanted to extend the season. But I guess they were worried about leaving a healthy populations so they lowered the numbers. I really wish it covered the altus lugert area, there were a ton of dove out there after the season.

I was a little worried about that also, but I was more worried about my new trail camera I just put out on my creek. I haven't been able to get down there yet to check to see if it was submerged or not. [:@] I was able to drive by my my milo field tonight and it had birds all over it. Next week I will bail it up and should make for a good opening weekend.

Heck I hope your cameera is still in 1 piece. Although a trail camera taking pictures of fish would be interesting.
