Default Advice on Shotgun Setup!

I got a Benelli Nova 12 gauge 28" for fathers day and I am ready to set it up for dove hunting. I have been dove hunting since I was 10 years old but it was the with my great grand fathers remington bolt action with adjustable choke. Though it worked like a champ, it has now left me clueless on what choke tubes I should be using for dove. Also, what shot would you recommend (Brand, shot size, shell length...etc.) I plan on shooting some clays in the upcoming weekends and I would appreciate any guidance on narrowing down all the choices out there.

Thanks, Paul

First season dove hunting they should be pretty close to you.
Use a Skeet choke or Imp. Cyl. (IC)
you should also be able to break any target on most courses with the same chokes Skeet or IC
I like the AA Shells the best. but you can use any brand you wish.
Things you should look for
#8 or # 7 1/2 size shot
3dram 1 1/8 oz shot
sometimes they don't give you the powder amount
should be from 1175 to 1300 ft per sec. velocity
my fav. AA Shells
AA Super Sport
#8 1300 fps
I like this in my bennelli auto 12ga
AA Lite Target Load
i like this one in my double guns
doesn't kick you as bad

I agree with Daleh, but I would also add a Light modified or modified choke for later in the season, when the birds are flying high and faster. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

I like cylinder or IC for chokes. For shells I would try the AA's handicap (gray hulls) in 7.5. Over all you will have to play around and see what you like best and shoot that.

Great advise...I would only add this...take the shells you are going to use and pattern them...this way you know how they shoot with each choke...skeet in one gun and type of may not shoot like a skeet tube in another gun
