I've had coyotes come in to turkey calls on only 2 occasions. Both scented me but I did get a shot off at the last one.

I've had crows respond to my locater calls much more often. I don't shoot them as I find them much to entertaining.

I killed a big male Coyote the 2nd day of this season calling. Gave him a face full of #4 hevi shot. I've called in 2 Bobcats also.

Fishers, or fisher cats, belong to the same family as skunks and wolverines.

They can be nasty little buggers, but sofar in CT, I've found them to be just curious and almost rather playful. They do have some good chompers on them though, and having one at 5 feet yesterday---well, let's just say after he scared away the turks, the safety was never returned to the "safe" position...;)

I posted a quick link below...

FYI: They've been migrating southward for about 10 years, with sustainable populations now in most of upper New England, MA, CT and upstate NY. Although they usually do not attack adult turkeys, they will feed on their eggs and young poults...

According to that link from Strut&Rut, 'The fisher prefers dense forest environments, with thick, high overhead canopies.' I don't think Kansas will have to worry about them.

I got one cayote a couple of weeks ago. At 18yds, #5 heavy shot layed him out stone dead. That being kind of an expensive load, I now carry a couple of rounds of #4 lead behind my turkey load, so I don't have to waste my expensive loads on em.

I can't really say I called him in but I did have a red tailed hawk sit in a tree near a hen decoy. He would look at me and then at the decoy. It was if he was trying to tell be that if I didn't eat her he was going to. He finally flew away after 15 or 20 minutes.

i have heard stories of it here in PA. they even make a nice law for us that lets us take a coyote in spring, if they come in. same with ALL deer seasons, and bear seasons
