NC turkey season is over.

I got so so so close.

Then just when I was going to score another hunter got my turkey !! [&:][>:][>:][>:]

So how did other NC hunters do ?

Hi! I got my 2 this year again. It was a tougher season though. Last year, I tagged out on 4-24. This year, I got my first one on 4-25 and again on 5-4. First one was a classic...an owl shock gobbled the tom at dawn. I set up and called him in at full strut. My fathers Stevens 12g dbl,and #4 2-3/4" shell nailed him at 34 yards. Took only 20 min. 19+ lbs, 10.5 beard, 1 1/8 spurs. My second tom would not come in to my box call, but continued feeding in the field. After 2 hours of back and forth nearer me , then back away again,with 3 other jakes near him, he finally came into shot range..42 yds. Fulton 16g, dbl #6 2 3/4 shell. I felt like I was being unethical in the kill, somewhat though. He only half strutted to my call once, showed no further interest in my call or decoy, and I only got him when he fed into gun range. Sort of anticlimatic. Only 15lbs, 6" beard, 1/2" spurs youngster. But thank the Lord for all his blessings. Can't wait 'til next year! See ya! Tony!
