Minnesota Turkey Archery Season
#1
Question for you turkey pro's if I may? First time hunting Turkey with my bow. I am going in Minnesotas 14 day end of season hunt. I am on many acres that are private and I have saw and heard turkeys when season opened in April. I would hit the slate and hear gobbles right away in the morning. Where are they now? I have saw them strutting early morning in about the same place a few mornings in a row in April. Now I can't even hear a gobble. What should my strategy be? They have to be around right? I do see hens periodically. And this land I hunt has ZERO pressure. I will be the only hunter this spring. Its about 1200 acres. So it's not that they are hearing calls every morning other than mine.
I hit the slate once maybe twice then I leave for work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would return to those strutting places you saw earlier. Get out there before light and setup. If you hear gobbling off in the distance, try to move closer. If not, once it gets light, sit and call every once in a while and just wait. There is a good chance one will come by there. You may have to wait till midmorning before they get away from the hens though so get comfortable so you can sit a while. It's the best thing I can tell you to do if they wont gobble at all. Good luck and let me know if this helps.
