Got no.1 for the year!
Sat morn. was the first day of my season. As we were walking in, we bumped a gobbler off the roost. I thought we just blew it right there. We set up and started som light calling, the birds flew down and came right to us. We hunted 15 min., when my buddy shot his first turkey ever. It was a 22 lb. 9 in. beard tom. Great start to the season. After taking the bird home we decided to go to a different section of woods. We sneak in real quiet when a tom sounds off. It's about 10:45 or so. We set up and in 20 min 2 jakes come over the hill. One came in full strut real slow until he seen the dekes. He came right in to about a 15 yrd shot. We managed to get 2 birds in an hours worth of time in the woods. Not a bad start. My bird weighed 18 lbs, had a 4 1/2 inch beard.
